What to expect when budgeting for your design

Pricing, Estimates & Payments

There are many variables to consider when creating custom jewelry, so it is not always possible to provide an accurate quote on the spot.

Please allow approximately 24–48 hours for us to source gemstones, review materials, and prepare an accurate estimate for your project. More complex sourcing or unusual materials may take longer.

Our goal is to give you realistic pricing before you commit so that we can avoid unnecessary surprises during the design and production process.

Custom design is more labor-intensive than mass-produced jewelry, but it also allows us to create a piece specifically for you, your materials, and your story.

Labor Costs

Labor costs vary depending on the complexity of your project, including design work, fabrication, casting, finishing, stone setting, engraving, specialty processes, and any outside artisan services required.

Custom design fees are based on the complexity of your project and begin at $250.

Your project estimate will identify the major design, material, gemstone, manufacturing, and labor costs applicable to your project before production begins.

Materials

Precious metals are priced using current market and supplier costs. A heavier piece or a higher-karat alloy will generally cost more than a lighter piece or one made from a lower-cost metal.

Because gold, platinum, silver, and other precious-metal prices can change significantly, material pricing is based on current costs at the time your estimate is prepared.

Gemstone prices also vary considerably depending on factors such as type, origin, size, cut, color, clarity, rarity, treatment, and availability.

Lab-created gemstones may sometimes provide additional options for clients who want a particular look, size, or color while working within a specific budget.

Stone setting is performed individually and requires skilled labor, so designs with many gemstones or complex settings may require substantially more setting time than simpler pieces.

Some jewelry also requires specialty finishes or plating, including rhodium plating on white gold. These finishes naturally wear over time and may require periodic maintenance depending on wear, skin chemistry, environment, and use.

Estimates

Verbal estimates are approximations only. Written estimates are valid for 7 days unless otherwise stated.

After that period, we may update pricing to reflect current precious-metal, gemstone, supplier, or manufacturing costs.

Principal stones and other significant gemstones are generally listed separately on your estimate. Smaller accent diamonds may be included in the overall project price unless otherwise noted.

Once a project is approved and production has begun, we will contact you before proceeding with additional work that would materially change your approved price.

If a project is significantly delayed or paused before production is complete, updated material, gemstone, or manufacturing costs may apply.

Payments

Your initial consultation and preliminary quote are complimentary.

Custom design fees are included in your itemized project quote and reflect the complexity of the design work required.

Most custom projects require a 50% deposit before production begins.

In limited cases, we may approve another payment arrangement. Where an installment arrangement is approved, production generally begins once at least 50% of the project total has been paid and cleared and the final design has been approved.

Principal gemstones or other specially sourced materials may require full payment before they are ordered.

We may hold orders or delay production until required payments have cleared.

We accept payment methods made available through our current checkout, invoicing, or payment systems. Additional payment arrangements may be available for certain projects.

Cancellations & Project Abandonment

If you cancel a custom project after work has begun, completed design work and any nonrecoverable materials, manufacturing, labor, shipping, sourcing, or other committed project costs will be deducted from payments already made.

Any remaining balance will be refunded in accordance with the terms applicable to your project.

Completed custom and bespoke jewelry is generally final sale.

Customer-Supplied Gemstones & Materials

We are happy to incorporate customer-supplied gemstones or precious metals when they are suitable for the proposed design.

Customer-supplied materials are evaluated for condition, compatibility, and safe use.

Because working with outside materials may require additional inspection, handling, testing, shipping, insurance, refining, design adjustments, or specialized manufacturing, customer-supplied materials do not necessarily receive a dollar-for-dollar retail credit toward a new project.

Any credit or pricing adjustment for usable customer materials will be reflected in your estimate.

Some conditions may only become visible after a gemstone or component is removed from its existing setting. Measurements taken while a stone is mounted may also vary slightly once it is removed.

If we discover hidden chips, cracks, treatments, damage, or other conditions that affect the project, we will contact you before proceeding with any material change to the approved plan or price.

What Should I Budget for Custom Jewelry?

Custom design fees begin at $250, with the total price of your finished piece determined by its complexity, precious metals, gemstones, and craftsmanship.

As a general guide, simple custom gold jewelry typically begins around $2,000.

Because precious-metal and gemstone prices fluctuate, every project is quoted individually using current material costs.

We welcome projects using existing gemstones or heirloom materials, as well as designs in alternative metals, which may offer different pricing possibilities.
